About Us

Your practical guide to jewelry materials, care, and informed buying.

What We Do

Moda Jewels is an independent educational resource focused on jewelry materials, buying guidance, and long-term care. We break down technical topics — such as gold plating standards, metal allergies, gemstone durability, and hallmark identification — into clear, actionable advice for everyday buyers.

Our content is built on direct material testing and industry-standard references, not marketing language. Whether you are comparing 14K gold to gold vermeil, learning how to clean pearls safely, or trying to understand why a ring turned your finger green, we explain what actually matters.

Our Approach

We do not sell jewelry. We do not accept sponsored placements. Our recommendations are based on material properties, wear testing, and consumer safety — not brand partnerships or affiliate commissions. When we reference a product category or price range, we explain the technical criteria behind it so you can evaluate any brand on your own.

All care guides, material breakdowns, and buying checklists are reviewed against current industry standards, including FTC Jewelry Guides and GIA educational materials. We update content when standards or market practices change.

Our Team

Orion Eastwood leads our materials research and content. He is a certified jewelry materials specialist with over twelve years of experience in metal testing, gemstone authentication, and consumer advocacy. Orion began his career as a quality assurance technician for a jewelry importer in Portland, Oregon, before moving to independent consulting in 2017. He has conducted hands-on testing of more than 2,000 jewelry samples for plating durability, nickel content, and hypoallergenic compliance.

Orion holds a Graduate Diamonds diploma from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) and advanced training in precious metal analysis through the Jewelers Vigilance Committee (JVC).

At Moda Jewels, Orion applies his technical background to translate complex metallurgical and gemological concepts into practical guidance for everyday buyers — with a focus on material transparency, realistic durability expectations, and safe wearing practices.
